Information about Fees

I am a clinical psychologist who lives in a rural area, so I understand the unique challenges facing those who live in the bush and need to access mental health services.

My areas of interest and experience:

  • Working with adults and children who have been diagnosed with “high functioning” autism (also often referred to as Asperger’s syndrome) and who struggle with anxiety, social skills and other challenges that an autism diagnosis may bring.

  • Working with people who have disabilities.

  • Working with people who experience panic attacks, generalised anxiety, and other specific anxiety disorders.

  • Working with people who experience depression or bipolar disorder.

  • Working with Aboriginal people.

  • Working with people who have experienced psychological workplace injuries.

  • Working with people living in rural areas.

  • Working with young people, including adolescents, down to the age of 6.

  • Men’s emotional and mental health issues.

I am registered to provide services under Medicare, DVA, Workcover (NSW), many EAP providers, and the NDIS. I am also happy to see people as private clients without referrals who may wish to access rebates through their private health insurance, or who may wish to pay full fee. You can find out more about my fees here.

I use a number of different therapy techniques, depending on the client and their presenting concerns. I have a particular interest in Positive Psychology, Cognitive-Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and mindfulness. If you have any queries about this aspect of my services, feel free to contact me.

I am currently completing a PhD that is exploring the benefits of mental health digital mobile applications for smartphones and tablet devices. This research is ongoing, but has already resulted in two publications:

  • Marshall, J. M., Dunstan, D. A., and Bartik, W. (in press). Clinical or gimmickal: The use and effectiveness of mobile mental health apps for treating anxiety and depression. Australian and New Zealand Journal of Psychiatry. doi: 10.1177/0004867419876700

  • Marshall, J. M., Dunstan, D. A., and Bartik, W. (in press). Smartphone psychology: New approaches towards safe and efficacious mobile mental health apps. Professional Psychology: Research and Practice.

I also like to facilitate and work with groups for both adults and young people. In the past, I have co-ordinated group programs related to autism, anxiety, and depression.

I am a Psychology Board-Approved Supervisor, and I welcome enquiries from provisional psychologists about supervision.

I am a full member of the Australian Psychological Society, and a Fellow of the Clinical College of the Australian Psychological Society.

I am a contracted Clinical Reference Lead for the Australian Digital Health Agency.

I am registered with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA), registration number PSY0001685145.

You can check details of my clinical registration with AHPRA here.
